Women Police Conference in Curacao

IAWP's own Casandra Martha and her team, the women of Fundashon Muhe Uniforma, Arma (MAU) are hosting a Police Training Conference to celebrate 40 years of women in policing in Curacao.

The Conference is being held September 5-8 2011.

There are 65 delegates. Women and men from the Netherlands, Curacao, Bonaire, St. Maarten, Trinidad & Tobago, St. Eustaius and the US make up the attendees.

The Conference began with a uniformed march across Queen Emma Bridge (known as the Swinging Old Lady)to the Council of Ministers and the group was greeted by the Prime Minister Gerrit Schotte.

Followed by a return to the Renaissance Curacao Resort for the beginning of four days of training.

The training offered is in the areas of policing, non-governmental organization (NGO) management, and leadership. Attendees come from many disciplines such as immigration officers, police officers, prison/correction officers and ciilian NGO personnel.
